Mission: Create and preserve affordable housing for people with low incomes and special needs throughout washington state.
Programs: Affordable housing real estate development and financial consulting: common ground provides real estate development services to help nonprofit agencies and governmental entitities navigate the complexities of housing development to create and preserve affordable housing. Services range from consulting and securing project financing to planning and construction management. In 2012, we worked with 28 organizations on 32 real estate projects to create 805 units of affordable housing.
nonprofit facilities real estate development: common ground also assists nonprofits in the process of renovating or building facility projects, such as homeless shelters, community clinics, and office headquarterss. In 2012, we worked with an organization to develop the final stage of their mental health and wellness center.
affordable housing advocacy: common ground developed a new housing models initiative under private grants and participated in organizations involved in shaping or implementing legislation and public policy. All advocacy was allowed activity, such as educating the community about federal housing issues.
capacity building, asset preservation, fundraising, admin & general: common ground helps housing providers identify cost-efficiencies and plan for facilities that will be healthy and sustainable over the long haul. Our asset preservation services include capital needs assessment, financial sustainability analysis and green design assessment. In 2012, we worked with 5 organizations to deliver capital needs assessments and financial sustainability, enabling them to make financial decisions on how best to preserve 279 units of affordable housing. Additional activities include management & general, and fundraising.
