Mission: Colorado Fourteeners Initiative preserves and protects the natural integrity of Colorado's 54+ 14,000-foot peaks through active stewardship and public education.
Results: *Built 31 sustainably designed, durably constructed summit routes on 28 14er peaks *Bought private mining claims atop Mount Shavano to provide public access and facilitate planning/construction of a new summit trail *Inventoried 42 summit trails and noted the need for $24 million in needed trail improvements *Estimated there were 260,000 hiker use days on the 14ers in 2015 generating $70.5 million in statewide economic impact *Engaged 13,471 days of volunteer trail stewardship through 2016 *Made 112,197 on-mountain educational contacts with 14er hikers *Produced more than 40 educational YouTube videos about 14er issues
