My mother discovered this nonprofit about 7 years ago and introduced me to the organization. The co founders , Jana Stanfield and Scott Friedman have created a wonderful for individuals to travel on tours with them. They give speakers and other professionals an opportunity to share their stories and talents to business organizations in South East Asia. They encourage and support young mothers, young woman and children by providing wells for water without having to walk for miles, they support girls by offering ways to sponsor them to help them continue their education! They provide dormitories so children can stay at school rather than walk through unsafe areas to get to their classes.<br>Every dollar donated or raised during fundraising goes to support their causes. Ms. Stanfield and Mr. Friedman do not take any monies for themselves. <br>Their honest, compassionate and intelligent individuals <br> who have made it their mission to serve and help others. I would strongly recommend you check out their website TWCCTW and considered donating or even going on a tour. Your life will be changed

Former foster youth here in CASA's target demographic age and circumstances. I can't speak to any of the work they do because it's all access restricted by a woman named Betsy, the mentor coordinator. <br> <br> <br>Vicki is the director and ignored emails from case managers and myself for a few months before finally passing me to Betsy to access services. Betsy started off the process by saying she would call me the next day and then not following up until I checked in two days later by saying I never received a call. This is a habit of hers. Betsy has put me in a mental health crisis situation on multiple occasions due to a general refusal to do anything that she says she will. <br> <br> <br>I've been trying to get help since July. I've given them all information they have asked for. Other case managers have reached out on my behalf several times to try to get something, anything, started with CASA. Betsy has a habit of making promises and not following through or following up with people despite active promises to do so. I've been homeless, hungry, and out of work several times in the past year and they still won't help me - but strung me along for months with the promises of help. CASA has passively watched my mental health decline with me ACTIVELY asking for help, with not a care in the world. <br> <br> <br>I am sick and tired of this being the general experience of foster youth seeking help and I am extremely frustrated at what CASA has put me through. No organization designed to help (former) foster youth should actively make situations worse through lies, false promises, and abysmal communication skills. <br> <br> <br>Stakeholders, please give your money and time elsewhere that actually does the work foster and homeless youth need - this place only makes situations worse.

I started sharing my life with Health Care for All Colorado and HCAC Foundation (www.hcacfoundation.org) after the Pediatric practice where I worked was closed, with one month's notice, by its corporate owners. The 'art of medicine' that I loved had become business and billing, rather than science and people. <br> <br>Health Care for All Colorado Foundation(501c3) is the research and educational arm of its 501c4, Health Care for All Colorado, which advocates and works to build the grassroots movement for single payer health care that is publicly funded. Paying a percentage of income each year in a health care' tax', as we fund public schools, would allow everyone to pay into a health care fund that would pay all providers. The overhead administrative costs are a fraction of what is paid now to a myriad of private insurers. Even more important is the reassurance that no one would go without needed medical care or fear bankruptcy from reams of medical bills. Once that tax is paid, no other premiums, co-pays, deductibles or other hidden costs! For providers, it means less time and money spent on billing procedures, and more time to listen to patients. After experiencing and listening to so many 'health care horror stories' and seeing corporations making medical 'decisions' based on their profits, I took action. Health care is a human right. If each of us pays our share, all of us will live a less stressful and productive life. <br><br>Health Care for All Colorado Foundation is leading the way, and I'm with them!

As a current social work and development intern, I have had and continue to have opportunities to interface with the girls - Peruvian Hearts beneficiaries - first-hand on a daily basis. I hold a Masters in Social Work, but wear many hats in my role here. I run groups with them, meet with a hand full of them on an individual basis, assist in their English class, am an in-apartment Chinese teacher, and occasionally hang out with them in their home towns. The growth, strength, determination, passion, thirst for knowledge, and quirkiness of each girl are telling and inspiring. They are the face and driving force of the organization. These girls are not victims, but persons who have overcome significant challenges to not just survive, but to thrive. And Peruvian Hearts has, in their own words, played a significant role in altering the trajectories of their lives. <br> <br>With a professional background as well in program development, I've had the pleasure of working closely with Peruvian Hearts' staff, both in Peru and in Colorado, in the strategic planning of the organization's expansion. I am particularly impressed by their humility, accessibility, and open-mindedness. I've continuously sensed the sincerity they have for benefiting the girls in the program. Furthermore, an element to empowerment work that I personally find necessary is advocacy on a larger scale. As the organization takes steps to expand, this is precisely the piece that they intend to incorporate in their work - to be a part of a larger social movement that will positively change the status and roles of women and girls in Peruvian society.

Founded by Eugenia Mitchell with her collection of 100 quilts, RMQM has grown in the past twenty years to include over 500 quilts, a gallery space in historic downtown Golden with quarterly exhibit changes, a gift shop and a great experience for visitors. Preserving women's history through the work of thier hands RMQM is always inspiring to those who appreciate the art of quilts and quilting.

This organization is by far the best Citizens Police Academy around!! I have attended a few, and I was very impressed with the overall training and commitment to the citzens. I highly recommend this course to anyone living in the area!!

Bridgeway is a home for pregnant teens. With a very small staff, this non-profit manages to support pregnant teens through and after their pregnancies. The girls have a place to live, provided they abide by the house rules, which include continuing their education and working to support themselves as well as their children, if they choose to keep their babies. It is a wonderful, rewarding place to volunteer, in part because you meet the girls (and the babies)! The staff is consistently supportive of and grateful for volunteers, no matter how small a role you may play. They have one major fundraiser per year and the opportunity to volunteer at it is not to be missed! Aside from supporting a great cause, Bridgeway is a very rewarding place to volunteer.

Westernaires is an outstanding mounted precision drill organization composed of over 1000 Jefferson County, CO youth from 9 to 19 years of age. There are approximately 500 volunteers who make the whole thing possible. <br> <br>Self-respect, responsibility and leadership are encouraged through horsemanship and family participation. <br> <br>Westernaires provides training in western riding, precision drills, trick riding, dressage and horse care. <br> <br>I've never seen such a successful youth education program. <br>You don't need to own a horse to join. Westernaires has over 150 horses and ponies for participants to groom, saddle and ride. And, it's affordable: Membership is $25. Horse rental is $10. <br>Classes in grooming, saddling, wrangling are free. <br> <br>In addition to learning about care of horses and honing their skill at precision mounted drill, Westernaires members develop important intangible qualities. These include the discipline that comes from training every week for years to achieve promotion to the top teams of the organization, the sense of teamwork from riding week after week with a group of riders trying to gel into a polished performance, the sense of personal responsibility from caring for horses, and community pride from gaining a personal appreciation for our western heritage. <br> <br>Westernaires provides a constructive alternative for today's suburban youngsters. There are no drugs, alcohol or tobacco at Westernaires. There is a sense of family and community, which nurtures young people into responsible leaders. It provides a place for parents and youth to work together in so many ways that seem unavailable elsewhere. <br> <br>This teamwork between generations is exemplified by the 500 adult volunteers who make it possible for our young people to ride; wranglers, instructors, first-aiders, maintenance crews. Westernaires' horse and facilities caretaker is its one paid employee.
