Causes: Cancer
Mission: Coalition against cancer (cac2) is a collaborative network of organizations and individuals who support and serve the childhood cancer community. Continued on schedule o. The mission of cac2 is to foster and sustain greater levels of coordinated action, information exchange, learning, and broad-based collaboration through agreed-upon initiatives in four areas: research and treatment, family services, awareness building, and advocacy. Cac2 works to benefit the childhood cancer community - including both its membership and childhood cancer patients, survivors, and their families - through greater levels of coordinated action that leverage the unique strengths and expertise of its members, minimizing waste of precious resources in order to drive better outcomes for childhood cancer patients and their families.
Programs: Cac2 hosted a "welcome and networking" reception on september 15, 2016 at curefest, washington, d. C. , for cac2 members and invited guests; approximately 50 individuals attended the event. The mission of curefest is to make childhood cancer research a national priority by uniting the childhood cancer community, the general public, the medical community, and elected leaders. Cac2 members and guests met at the ann and robert h. Lurie children's hospital of chicago on june 29, 2017 for cac2 summit and annual meeting. Invited speakers addressed topics such as the nurse-patient/family relationship, pediatric brain tumor survivorship, continued on schedule opediatric cancer research partnerships, foundation-based collaborations, and public-private partnerships. Dr. Oren becher, from lurie children's hospital, presented the keynote address on the current state of dipg research. Over 100 individuals attended the meeting.
