Mission: The mission of Clara-Mateo Alliance, Inc. ("CMA") is to provide shelter and supportive services to the homeless and those in need to help them obtain stable housing and be self-sufficient. CMA serves both Santa Clara and San Mateo counties as well as homeless from the surrounding Bay Area.
Programs: CMA is composed of 3 programs, 1) two transitional shelters serving homeless couples and individuals and the second one serving families, 2)two shelter facilities, one for individuals and couples and the second for families and 3) the Elsa Segovia Center, a daytime resource center for homeless and at-risk women, children and families. CMA programs focus on self-sufficiency and thus, all residents have a strict "Service Agreement" that they must adhere to. The Service Agreement outlines what the client needs to do (i.e. employment counseling, debt reduction, money management, alcohol and drug counseling, etc.) in order to end his/her homelessness. CMA staff work with each client to meet the goals of the Service Agreement. The Elsa Segovia Center offers a number of resources including laundry and shower facilities, food, a career clothing closet for women, healthcare, parenting classes, a computer lab, and a beauty program which includes hair styling and manicures/pedicures.
