Mission: CURE grew from a grass roots environmental organization founded in the Almaden Valley of San Jose, California in 1993. Now, with chapters and affiliates in 26 states, South Africa, England, and Canada, CURE provides educational information and advocacy for communities encountering the risks and health effects of mold exposure.
CURE's mission:
to educate the public and the medical community regarding the etiologies, signs, and symptoms of mold exposure diseases and mycotoxicoses;
to research and promote the testing, prevention, and treatment of mold-exposure illness;
To provide valid information regarding public and worker risks from bioaerosol exposures inherent in composting, sludge application, and other "trendy" waste disposal practices;
To promote the development of alternative (and safer) waste disposal strategies;
To educate the public, medical community, and government recovery/assistance agencies about the health risks from mold and mycotoxin exposure arising from other adverse environmental conditions, such as flooding or poor maintenance of homes and businesses.
