Programs: Classes: circus juventas offers circus arts training to youth between the ages of 2 and 21. Individual strengths are developed through circus skills that are taught in a culture of respect, acceptance, and individuality, through year-round after-school classes, summer camps, and workshops in a full range of circus arts at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Specialty classes are offered for youth with disabilities, and adults. Training is provided by over 30 experienced circus performing arts professionals from around the world. In 2016/17, over 1,600 individuals enrolled in over 9,000 class sessions. Over 200 students received scholarships for almost 700 class sessions, totaling over $218,000.
performances: circus juventas offers performance opportunities to all levels of youth. Nine spring celebration shows feature over 800 beginning and intermediate students in a full -scale production that integrates music, costuming, and presentation. Summer shows feature over 70 advanced students performing in large-scale, theatrically infused showcases performed over three weeks. Combined audiences for spring and summer shows are typically over 30,000. Circus juventas is often invited to perform locally, nationally and internationally at circus competitions and community events. In 2017, circus juventas was featured at the ten-day smithsonian folklife festival in washington dc.
hosting events: circus juventas hosts occasional special events under its big top for other non-profits and corporations. These events include circus juventas student performers, and sometimes include circus arts instruction.
circus juventas' students perform at outside events and competitions; these events raise awareness about the circus, allow the circus to perform its civic duty, and give the youth valuable performance experience. Such events include performances at hosanna church, the winter carnival, and the minnesota orchestra as well as national and international youth circus performances, such as viva fest and the international german wheel competition.
