Mission: Chronic illness recovery exists to promote and support recovery from chronic illness through physician services, patient counseling, informational materials, seminars, research and participation in public health policy design.
Programs: In february 2014, chronic illness recovery jointly sponsored a seminar for medical professionals which provided participants with seven continuous medical education hours accredited by the american medical association.
beginning in 2014, chronic illness recovery presented poster and oral presentations at five medical conferences across the united states. The presentations exhibited a scientific paper titled inflammation and vitamin d: the infection connection. This paper was authored by chronic illness recovery volunteers: meg mangin, rebecca sinha, and kelly fincher. It was published in the october 2014 issue of inflammation research (a springer journal).
during 2014, chronic illness recovery (cir) counseled 54 persons enrolled in the nurse counseling program. Enrolled persons are those who have been referred by their medical professional for counseling between office visits while they are being treated using inflammation therapy. Cir volunteers, who are registered nurses, assist these individuals in: identifying, understanding and managing their symptoms; performing self-assessment of those symptoms; rating and managing their pain; organizing medications and dealing with stressors related to chronic illness. For those individuals in the counseling program, nurses help them assess their progress and correspond that progress to the treating physician. -continued on schedule o- outside of the counseling program, cir volunteers answer questions about inflammation therapy via phone and email. In february 2014 cir sponsored a day-long workshop for individuals dealing with chronic illness and their families. Cir publishes a monthly newsletter via email to those who request it.
