Mission: The Chorus of Westerly, founded in 1959 by the current music director George Kent, continues his commitment to children as full participants of the ensemble. Of the 200 singers, 80 are children eight and over. His second commitment is to perform with artistic integrity both the major classic works of the choral literature and new or lesser-known pieces of merit. The Chorus owns the George Kent Performance Hall, renowned for its outstanding acoustics and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Chorus is respected for its outstanding performances, international tours, music education and strong organizational and fiscal management.
