Mission: The children's hospital foundation ("chf") is organized to benefit cincinnati children's hospital medical center ("cchmc") and its affiliates.
Programs: The children's hospital foundation ("chf") was incorporated on october 16, 1990 as an ohio not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of acquiring and investing contributions, engaging in fundraising activities and managing its investment portfolio in order to benefit cincinnati chiildren's hospital medical center ("cchmc"), an ohio not-for-profit pediatric healthcare, teaching and research facility that is exempt from income tax under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). The foundation has established certain planned giving programs, some of which may provide income to the donors during the donor's lifetime. The foundation is also the recipient of life insurance policy donations. The planned giving programs and donated life insurance policies are intended to increase the base of assets from which economic benefits will be transferred to cchmc. For the tax year july 1, 2011 to june 30, 2012, the foundation transferred $1,402,685 to cchmc in fulfillment of this program. In order to ensure that cchmc's clinical and research operations are consistent with the charitable goals of the foundation, members of the foundation's board of trustees maintain significant representation on the cchmc board of trustees.
