Programs: The oregon foster youth connection (ofyc) is a program of children first for oregon. Ofyc is a statewide, youth led, advocacy group of current and former foster youth who participate in the development of policies, programs, and practices that improve the lives of thousands of kids in foster care. The program actively engages in larger system discussions and advocacy in oregon with specific interest in children and families that are served by the child welfare system. An initiative of children first for oregon, united for kids connects and amplifies the collective voice of pro-child oregonians and organizations to promote public policy change and shared investments that benefit childrens health, safety, education, and economic security. The united for kids childrens agenda allows advocates to organize efforts and emphasize the needs of oregons children during each legislative session. The agenda presents a compilation of legislative policy and budget priorities from leading oregon advocacy organizations.
child abuse prevention (cap & ctfo). Through a statewide network of prevention providers, children first of oregon and the children's trust fund of oregon (ctfo) identify the best use of resources to support community engagement, stronger services, and a powerful voice for child abuse prevention. Cffo and ctfo have joined in partnership to provide services which include, but are not limited to: (i) increasing statewide public awareness of the issues surrounding child abuse in the state of oregon; (ii) convening stakeholders to address the problem of child abuse and proactively seeking solutions; (iii) undertaking public policy research with the goal of preventing child abuse in the state of oregon; and (iv) engaging in legislative advocacy with the goal of preventing child abuse in the state of oregon.
