Mission: Charleston southern university (csu) is a private, four-year co-educational institution organized under the laws of the state of south carolina in 1964 as a non-profit organization and sponsored by the south carolina baptist convention. Programs: Instruction and student aid: for the academic year 2014-15, enrollment remained steady with 3,667 undergraduate and graduate students completing traditional, online, and hybrid courses. There were 574 degrees conferred during the year, and the total number of full-time professors was 165. Two additional graduate programs have been developed and are scheduled for implementation in the 2015-16 school year. Csu offers more than 800 courses, and approximately 140 are available online. To match the identified gaps in the local workforce, csu's college of adult and professional studies developed certificate programs which are available online. (continued on schedule o)renovations to residence halls as well as improvements to the campus infrastructure are ongoing and provide support for continuous growth both inside and outside the classroom. Campus construction projects include a new athletic training building, expansion of the campus cafeteria, improvements to the football stadium, new artificial turf, a new track, new tennis courts, and the addition of faculty offices. Csu partnerships have expanded to several south carolina school districts outside of the lowcountry. Dozens of in-service teachers are registering for online professional development courses in gifted and talented and reading literacy. The school of education has also partnered with two local private high schools to offer dual enrollment to students who are interested in transferring to csu after they graduate from high school. Csu is developing a physician assistant program, transitioning the undergraduate athletic training program to a master's degree, and starting a family nurse practitioner program through a grant with the blue cross blue shield foundation of south carolina. A number of mission trips were taken over the course of the school year and csu students logged thousands of hours of community service working on projects such as habitat for humanity, christmas shoe boxes, student internships, and the lowcountry cert team. Our faculty, staff, coaches and students are committed to improving the community in which we are located as well as enhancing their professional career opportunities through countless numbers of unpaid hours of work in the charleston region. Csu is focusing anew on global study opportunities. Csu is actively seeking joint degree programs with international universities and will be hosting the 2015 consortium for global education conference in september 2015. More than 200 international educators will be attending this gathering at csu. Several professors are taking international trips to grow csu's outreach and recognition in the global academic world. They have traveled to thailand, china, spain, ethiopia, italy, and other countries to spread the word about csu's students, programs, and possibilities. Csu awards institutional, state, and federal financial aid to a rapidly growing student population representing an increase in numbers and academic quality. Approximately ninety-five percent of the student population receives some type of financial assistance. G. I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded csu the designation of military friendly school. The 2014 military friendly schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace america's military service members and veterans as students. Csu was also named to america's 100 best college buys and america's best christian colleges by institutional research & evaluation, inc. The list identifies outstanding christian colleges offering high quality education at the lowest possible costs.
student services: enrollment services, university registrar, counseling, sports, and recreation. Over the past year, the university renovated the brewer center, business office, and human resources, and made major renovations to dormitories. The success is a reflection of csu's pursuit of reaching its vision of being a christian university nationally recognized for integrating faith in learning, leading, and serving.
auxiliary enterprises: the university residence halls, dining hall, and campus bookstore are the major auxiliary enterprises serving the university community.
academic support: the university library (approximately 250,000 volumes held) is support for the principal academic divisions.
