Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: To provide compassionate care to animals through adoptions, education, crisis intervention, and community involvement
Programs: Crisis intervention - chance shelter offered our resources to first responders such as our citys fire department and animal care and control. We operated strictly with our fosters and the help of volunteers, as we do not have a facility yet. We continue to expand our foster and volunteer list to accommodate more pets. In 2017, we cared for over 30 animals in crisis situations such as hoarding, fires, and medical emergencies where the pet needed either permanent or temporary placement.
community outreach & volunteer program - chance shelter has been a part of many community events such as open houses at a local fire station, an annual city safety event, and pet care/awareness classes for children and adults. We offered pet cpr and first aid classes. We have increased our volunteer and foster programs through awareness presentations. We offer pet safety and pet cpr classes to all of our volunteers and fosters.
