Mission: Chamber Music Charleston maintains the existing audience for chamber music through concerts of high artistic quality presented in historic venues, using innovative programming that combines proven masterpieces with lesser known works. CMC also introduces children to classical music through engaging, interactive programs, instilling a sense of importance in this art form and ultimately building a future audience for classical music.
Results: Over the past five years (CMC began in 2006) CMC has ended each fiscal year in the black, has expanded the concert offerings and grown from an organization with a budget of under $100,000 to a budget of just over $200,000. The 2010 season has introduced the new "Intermezzo Concert Series" as free performances in hospitals, retirement homes and nursing homes along with an annual Gala to raise funds for this series.
Target demographics: Educational programs target elementary school children of all demographics; House Concerts, Gallery Concerts and Special Events primarily target 40-80 year old audience, although a concerted effort is underway to reach college students and young professionals.
