Mission: Chaddock is united in our commitment to offer hope and healing to children and families by providing innovative services in caring settings.
Results: Based on FY 2010 statistics, 92% of the children discharged from the Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program return home or step-down to a lower-level of care. In addition, we have found that 83% of the children who are discharged from Chaddock's Residential Treatment Program return home or step-down to a lower-level of care.
Target demographics: Chaddock has served children from 24 different states, Washington D.C. and one tribal nation. While our primary focus is Developmental Trauma and Attachment for children ages 8 to 16, we also care for children up to age 21 through our Traditional Residential Treatment Program, Group Home, Independent Living Program and our On-Campus Chaddock School.
Programs: The developmental trauma and attachment program is a residential treatment program that provides services 24/7 to male and female youth ages 6 to 17 in a cottage environment. This program serves children with severe attachment difficulties by helping them gain the capacity to form reciprocal relationships. Children placed in the program have intact adoptive or foster families who are involved in treatment during visits as well as through other means of communication. The program has served youth from 27 states, the district of columbia, and one tribal nation since it is one of a few serving this specialty in the country. We served 49 clients during the fiscal year and 113 secondary clients such as parents and other family members. Of the clients discharged during the year, 72% were discharged home or to a lower level of care. Average length of stay is 18 months.
the special education program is an on-campus accredited school that is approved as a non-public special education facility by the illinois state board of education. It serves students in chaddock's residential program as well as youth from quincy and the surrounding area who have not experienced success in the traditional public school classroom. Students attending are typically identified as an ed, ld, emh, or other health impaired special education learner. Teachers are special education certified and classrooms have a low teacher to student ratio with para professionals in the classroom so that each student receives the individualized care they need for achievement. The curriculum is approved by the illinois state board of education and accredited by north central association. The program served 122 students during the fiscal year and 149 secondary clients such as family members, overall attendance was 91%.
the dhs early childhood mental health consultation program (also known as caregivers connections) is a statewide program that provides mental health consultation to day care providers serving children ages 0 to 5. The program is funded by a grant from the illinois department of human services to provide coordination and oversight to subcontractors at varous sites around the state. Those subcontractors work with day care providers and others in their region to provide face to face consultation, technical assistance and training to assist them in recognizing and responding to mental health issues in young children. During the fiscal year, caregiver connections provided training to 14,892 participants which in turn impacted countless children served by those day care providers and their parents.
other program services include four other levels of residential treatment; residential, group home, transitional living and independent living; specialized foster care; traditional and relative foster care; outpatient counseling; the trauma initiative (special trauma counseling and training); the knowledge center (consultation and training); and several other small community services. During the fiscal year, these prorams served 18,109 primary clients and 747 secondary clients, such as family members. Also included in program services are payments to an affiliate organization of $357,697 made to a related organization to transfer all contributions received for investment.
