Causes: Education
Mission: To provide effective leadership that promotes programs, policies, and performance designed to increase higher education attainment by the people in the central valley.
Programs: 1. Complete college america (cca): held meetings, attended webinars and conference calls with nine communiy college member institutions to review the best procedures for the collection of data required on a yearly basis as part of their 14 state data tracking of students in remedial education courses. 2. Transitional foster youth report: completed report in july 2016 that surveyed 16 cvhec member institutions regarding challenges of higher education faced by foster youth. 3. Central valley higher education policy summit: held a summit in october 2016 attended by 82 participants; discussed "15 to finish" message to educate students on time to degree and pathways to effect change. 4. Lumina foundation community partnership: the presidents and chancellors of 27 san joaquin valley higher education institutions have partnered with the lumina foundation with the goal of inclusion to make college more accessible to more students to become future leaders to better serve society. 5. Central region/mother lode consortium: cvhec has partnered with the central region/mother load consortium to bring regional career and technical education (cte) practiioners and educatiors together to deliver cte training and education at member colleges.
