Mission: Seeking to put god's love into action, cdhfh brings people together to build affordable homes, communities, and hope.
Programs: In 2017, four low-income families achieved homeownership through cdhfh's housing program and three were in process at year end. In those homes, 15 adults and children now have a place to call home. The homes constructed were new construction and part of cdhfh's neighborhood revitalization initiative in federica, delaware. These homes were built in partnership with the future homeowner earning their sweat equity hours, but also in partnership with the kent county community to provide volunteer labor and financial support. Cdhfh continued to maintain a 0% foreclosure rate. Cdhfh's program is considered "a hand up, not a hand out. " see schedule o for additional information on our program. Constructed homes are sold to the selected families at cost with a zero percent interest mortgage. Mortgage payments are then paid to cdhfh to continue to help fund future homes. The silent second mortgage on the home is the appraised value minus the price of the home. This amortizes over the term of the mortgage.
