Mission: The Center's mission is to help children with speech and language disorders reach their full potential. The key enablers of our mission include: h Offering a spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with speech and language disorders and their families. h Making fee reductions available to families who would not otherwise be able to afford services. h Providing training for those working and caring for children with speech and language problems and learning disorders. h Serving as a national resource for children with autism, pervasive developmental disorders, hyperlexia, language disorders and social communication problems. h Creating and maintaining liaisons with other service providers.
The children work one-on-one with the therapist who models therapeutic training techniques to parents and family members either directly in the session or through a one-way mirror. The children and families benefit by receiving the therapy services and training they need, regardless of their ability to pay. We serve more than 300 clients and provide almost 200 therapy sessions a week. It has always been part of the Center's philosophy to help children in need regardless of their race, class, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and obviously, disability.
