Programs: Head start and early head start is funded from the us department of mental health and human services, and offers over 1,220 income-eligible and at-risk children and their families a comprehensive program responding to their emotional, social and nutritional needs. Staff offers children and their families acceptance, understanding, and the chance to achieve success through community participation, staff development and family involvement, the goal is to provide children a successful beginning, leading to a better future, and help parents move toward self-sufficiency. Early head start provides child care services and health services to approximately sixty children ages zero to three years old and parenting education and health services to pregnant women child development programs. Ccfs helps parents find child care through their resources and referral network. The alternative payment, calworks (parental choice). And center based programs give parents financial assistance for child care if they wish to pursue job training, find employment or further their education. Ccfs also offers training and licensing assistance to those who want to become care providers. In addition, care providers may receive finacial reimbursement for health meals serve to children in their care through the child care food program. The center also maintains a public children's toy and resource library and can connect families with local and state agencies dedicated to creating a safe environment for all children. The child development programs serve approximately 15,000 children. These programs are funded by grants from the california state department of education. The county of los angeles, through the california department of education, funds the ccfs' stage 1 calworks program acic, caa, first five and other programs. Ccfs helps low income families and children to ameliorate the causes and conditions of poverty in los angeles and madera counties.
