The Casemate Foundation supports the Casemate Museum at Fort Monroe. Fort Monroe is an exceptional historical site. The history is abounding. The Museum continues year after year to tell the story of the largest stone fort ever built in the US. It is a magnificent experience for young and old. If you have not visited the fort plan to do so. I had the pleasure of living at Fort Monroe when the US Army was still there as well as supporting the foundation for many years.

The Museum chronicles Fort Monroe's colonial roots & its military role from the 19th century onward. It provides an amazing opportunity to walk in a space saturated with history. Critical to supporting and keeping this experience available is The Casemate Museum Foundation, which has provided support through funding and promotion across a number of avenues for decades. It is a cornerstone in maintaining this historical experience for visitors past, present, and future.

Certainly the Casemate Museum is a jewel in the crown of Fort Monroe! I have been going to this museum since I was a little girl. It has grown so much since that time into a great museum with so much to learn about Fort Monroe’s history. The Foundation has been giving supplemental support to this museum since 1984. It is a wonderful organization and it also runs the museum gift shop which helps to support the museum. Why not become a member?

I have been a member of the Casemate Museum Foundation for about 15 years. This organization supports the museum with volunteers and financial support. The museum is a great place to visit to learn about history of the area and not just Ft Monroe. The exhibits are laid out in a very organized manner and they change. There is always something to learn about at the Museum.

I know that this foundation was established to provide financial support to Fort Monroe's Casemate Museum. This funding comes from museum gift shop profits, donations, and membership fees. The relationship between the museum and the foundation has been a long and successful one.

What a treasure we have on Fort Monroe with the Casemate Museum. Please consider becoming a Member and support the valuable work of our Foundation. The Gift Shop is a great place to shop, too.

I recently visited the Casemate Museum and found it full of great exhibits and information about Fort Monroe and its roll in the Civil War. Fascinating to see the prison cell where Jefferson Davis was held prisoner after his capture.
