Mission: The Carrick Hockey Club (CHC) was formed in 1995 by a group of parents concerned about the quality of ice hockey participation available to city residents entering their high school years. The CHC is the only South Hills Public School team that is a member of the newly formed Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL). Carrick Hockey Club started out with only a Junior Varsity team during its first two years. Both seasons were winning seasons. Carrick Hockey Club has continued to grow adding a Varsity team 3 years ago in addition to a Junior Varsity, and both teams have continued in the winning tradition. Like all of the other PIHL hockey clubs, the CHC is not financially funded by Carrick High School. However, all students that play must be attending Carrick High School, or a Carrick feeder middle school.
Programs: CCHC's operating budget includes payment for league fees, uniforms, practice ice time, and tournaments. This past season, the club had a total of 30 players, constituting a Jr. Varsity and Varsity team. The players are each assessed a fee based on operating costs less any grants and contributions received. The player can lower his fees by participating in fundraisers.
