Mission: The caring institute was created in 1985 in response by a directive from mother teresa to our founder "to do something about the poverty of the spirit in the u. S. And developed world. " she said to use the power of caring, "the one word summary of the golden rule which runs through all the great religions of the world. " we established the national caring awards and the caring hall of fame located three blocks east of the u. S. Capitol in what was the home of the great civil rights leader frederick douglass. By honoring those who ennoble the human race, we hope to inspire other to emulate their life of service.
