Programs: Workforce development american job centers (ajc)as the ajc one stop operator, career resources inc. (cri) manages the coordinated delivery of services for universal access through ajc one stop centers in southwestern connecticut: bridgeport, stamford, and derby. In partnership with the ct department of labor, career resources provides comprehensive employment and training services, resulting in increased earnings for the job seeker and a competitive, trained workforce for the business community. Job seekers have access to a single point of entry to a network of workforce development services including, but not limited to, classroom training, education and vocational programs, program partner services, comprehensive case management and career counseling, and integrated programs such as the workforce innovation and opportunity act (wioa) individual training accounts for in-demand occupational skills training.
jfes (jobs first employment services)the jfes program provides employment assessment and services, assistance in developing an individualized employment plan, job search assistance, vocational education, subsidized employment, adult basic education and/or employment related support services such as transportation and child care assistance to recipients of temporary family assistance (tfa). Cri operates jfes programs in bridgeport and waterbury. Gedour year-round, in-house program provides a convenient way for our customers to receive classroom and computer-based training to pass the ged test and earn their high school diploma, opening doors to a whole new range of training and employment opportunities. Youth career advancement (yca) youth career advancement (yca) is a free, 5-week professional development program operated in partnership with youthworks. This program focuses on enhancing career-and college -readiness in the 16-24 year-olds in the greater bridgeport area. Secure jobssecure jobs ct is a two-year demonstration pilot designed to increase the income of families transitioning from homelessness to housing by connecting them to the education,training and supports they need to secure and maintain stable, competitive employment. This will be accomplished by better integrating and coordinating the efforts of the homeless services, workforce and child care sectors to effectively serve families participating in the department of housing's (doh's) connecticut's rapid re-housing program (ctrrp).
strive strive is a three-week, full-time work readiness training program featuring a series of highly effective and engaging attitudinal workshops in a simulated work environment. Training focuses on developing positive attitudes and work habits for successful long-term employment. Career resources assumed the operations of strive-new haven in april of 2012, and now operates all three strive sites in connecticut, in bridgeport, hartford and new haven. Cri's fourth strive site, in waterbury, opened in march of 2017.
alternative incarcerationaic employment servicesthe bridgeport alternative in the community (aic) employment services unit is a solutions-oriented program that provides services that help ex-offenders overcome barriers to employment. Participants has access to resources to help them address the complex range of emotional, social, and cognitive needs, while sharpening their soft and hard job skills. Employment services provides access to a network of resources, including a 9-session, 3-week skill building training program and an intensive 4-week job development program that includes essential workforce development elements. Reentry worksthis ct department of correction-funded program assists former offenders in succeeding in the workforce. Services include connection to education and training, job search assistance, individual case management, and job development. Reentry works adult educationfunded by the state department of education, this program provides a unique adult education learning environment at partner agencies for people who have been incarcerated. Individualized instruction allows students to focus on topics and areas as needed. Classes also focus on possible careers and workforce readiness.
