I will tell you that this organization does not deserve a 501(c)3 status. I don't know how an organization that takes is almost 100K a year manages to even spend that all, let alone be organized enough to properly file taxes.
I responded to a Craiglist ad, that was my first mistake. It was a beautiful black cat and I set my heart on adopting him. I was required to give three references, which I did, as well as my veterinarian's information for my other cat. They also requested pictures of my apartment including the bedroom, which I considered invasive but I did it. After a week had gone by and they had followed up I was requested to speak with the foster of the cat, who seemed to not be knowledgeable, but I did this too. All that was left for arrangements to be made to have the cat delivered to me. I could have made a sizable donation, and I had the sob story of how their fund raiser had been cancelled that made them 15K every year due to Covid.
The next day I received a phone call and the head of the organization said that the daughter of the woman who had died, who had given up the cat, had taken the cat back after 6 weeks, that it wasn't actually through their rescue. That the woman didn't understand she was actually giving the cat up and since it was through the foster, there was nothing they could do. The foster was a friend whose cat they had tried to place. They offered to send me pictures of 6 cats from someone who was desperate to place them, but again not through their rescue.
I was really upset, complained to the foster. The partner to the head of the organization got nasty with me and insulted me several times. I posted a review on social media that will let others beware. The partner also said it was not the fosters fault.
The head said nothing like this had ever happened before, and suddenly said she had actually made the decision and not the foster to place the cat back with the daughter. She lied to me and gave me two different stories here.
These people are running some sort of bait and switch with animals supposedly they are placing that are not in their rescue. Where is the money really going? Never mind the heartbreak of the people who look to adopt and are suddenly told they cannot. The head of the organization also stated that less than ten percent of all who apply are accepted to adopt animals. There is something wrong with this percentage.
My opinion is that they are not even slightly professional; just several mean old ladies who are not honest who do not have the best intentions nor that of the animals they supposedly have in their rescue. Stay away.
I may have also been discriminated against because of my religion, but I cannot prove it.
