Causes: Civil Rights, Civil Rights, Social Action & Advocacy
Mission: Accelerate the protection of wilderness and address the causes of homelessness through direct advocacy, and build a healthy and resilient nonprofit sector.
Programs: We believe that the wildest places in the western united states and canada should be preserved forever. Our fight for the permanent protection of large, intact wilderness ecosystems in alaska, washington, idaho and montana is fueled by our direct advocacy on priority campaigns and our support for leaders and organizations on the front lines of those campaigns. Preservation of america's arctic, and especially the permanent protection of the coastal plain of the arctic national wildlife refuge, is central to our wilderness protection efforts.
homelessness is not an inevitable part of communities but should be a rare and temporary hardship. Homelessness is a complex and challenging problem, but it is also a solvable problem. We believe we can create the political will to add the resources and policy change necessary to make homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. Our priorities build on the current momentum in washington state to stop the pipeline of homeless teens becoming homeless adults and the efforts to ensure access to safe, affordable housing for all across our state.
we are proud to work with nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to build a healthy and resilient nonprofit sector that can increase impact, respond effectively to challenges and opportunities, and fulfill its own potential. When the nonprofit sector is strong, change happens.
