When a child opens his front door and is surprised by a horse, you know that child will remember that moment forever. The staff and volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable and fun. I love volunteering for Camp Casey. Seeing kids with cancer or other illnesses is sad, but we get to bring a horse to their house, and they just forget all about the treatment and other horrible stuff.
What a wonderful organization to volunteer for! They are very well organized and provide an amazing experience for the children, families, and volunteers. The Equine Therapists' attention to detail for the safety and emotional needs of the children goes above and beyond.
It was so fulfilling seeing the happiness of the children we served. They were so excited to see, ride, and learn about the horse. They enjoyed the crafts they made and the food. It was a wonderful day and a perfect event.
I really enjoyed volunteering this summer with such a great organization. I volunteered at several "horsey house calls" bringing joy right to the front doors of children and their families, who really need the smiles and happiness that horses can provide. I had heard about Camp Casey from a friend. The moment I had read about what they do I was on Board. My first volunteer experience with Camp Casey was an amazing experience. Watching a sick childs expression when they see a Horse at their home is out of this world. Children with extreme illnesses need a moment, a day, to be happy and forget about what their daily life usually consists of. Camp Casey makes this happen.
My initial experience with Camp Casey was as a volunteer during Horsey House Calls. The care and attention to detail provided by the staff is unbelievable. Each family is treated with respect and dignity. There is a ton of love in everything that they do. And while precautions are put in place, everyone enjoys the house calls - even neighbors simply watching.
As a Board Member it has been a joy to provide some guidance and resources to this wonderful organization.

I started volunteering at camp casey in 2023. The impact it has made on my life to see how happy these children and their families are for the day is astronomical. I love being part of such a wonderful program and can't wait to see what next year has in store.
My son Beckett is 8 months in remission from ATRT Brain Cancer. He had two brain surgeries, 30 rounds of radiation and 5 mo the of chemotherapy. He is our little warrior. Beckett’s Warriors!! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. It’s hard for people to understand that even after we get done with treatment, nothing is the same anymore. Everyone thinks we just go back to normal life when we have all changed in so many different positive (and negative) ways. This horsey house call was exactly what we needed in the middle of our every three month scan. It gave us a bit of relief and for a couple hours we weren’t worried about anything besides spending an amazing memorable experience with our close family and friends. We are so incredibly grateful for the volunteers, the people that donated their money, and especially to Della. She was the perfect horse for Beckett. We sleep with her (stuffed horse) every night now from the gifts you brought. Thank you again!!
Camp Casey is a wonderful organization that gives horse experiences to children with life threatening diseases. It was founded and is led by Molly Reeser who is so passionate about the organization and its cause. I'm proud to be part of this fiscally responsible, grassroots organization, as horses have made such a huge difference in my own life!

Camp-Casey.org is built upon and around volunteerism from those who care for their affectionate Hero Herd animals, our host farms, our glue-like founders, the Cowboy Crews, and our absolutely professional and outstanding Board of Directors! I'm not sure, but would dare say that well over 95% of all incoming donations / grants / funding goes directly to the program costs and activities! Near zero overhead. Amazing! As the parents of two children who lost their lives to cancer, we can share with you very truthfully! Our oldest daughter Carly Gayle died in 1990 at age four due to leukemia. Our youngest daughter Casey Lin was a fantastic and intelligent child too. Casey loved horses! Casey met Molly in 2001. Molly saw how manipulating, riding, and enjoying such a big animal empowered Casey Lin by making her happy, giving her strength and real-life confidence. Getting the picture? This is REAL. You'll never find a more worthy organization to support. Period. We just love each and every person involved. Each and every person is integral to the entire picture and practice! At the suggestion of dear friend, I signed up as a volunteer for Camp Casey a couple years ago. She explained that volunteering is a way to give yourself a break, while still helping others. Initially, I thought I would just be lending a helping hand as a side walker. But as it turns out, going on these Horsey House Calls has been just as therapeutic for me as it is for the families we serve. That's the thing about doing this work, the house call experience "elevates" everyone involved ... the infirmed children, the parents, the siblings, the extended family & friends, the neighbors, the community, the horses and the horse owners. Definitely time well spent !
Every time I volunteer with Camp Casey, my heart grows a little bit bigger! Their mission and program is so unique, and it’s incredible to witness the healing power of horses in action. The smiles and “Yeehaws” say it all!

We cannot say enough what a beautiful experience Camp Casey provided to our daughter and all of her guests by giving her a Horsey House Call. From start to finish it was well thought out and planned perfectly to entertain the kids and keep everyone happy and busy for the entirety of the horsey house call. The employees and volunteers were thrilled to be there and truly made everyone feel so comfortable and cared for. The horse rides, the grooming lesson, the crafts, making the horse food, feeding the horse, the conversations, the smiles/laughs, and so on… everything was PERFECT! It brought tears to my eyes seeing my brave girl get onto the horse (beautiful Lacey) and how happy she was. When they say they bring happiness to your doorstep, they truly mean it! We can’t say thank you enough to the entire team for giving our daughter the most incredible day.

I was introduced to Camp Casey by a Family Friend that was a recipient of a Horsey House Call. I believe highly in the healing power horses can bring. Now my own horse, Lacye is a member of the Hero Herd. I absolutely love sharing her healing energy with anyone in need of a visit. All the pictures and videos make me so happy that she can help. All the Camp Casey Volunteers take wonderful care of all the Campers, Families, Friends, and Equine partners.
Camp Casey is just amazing. It checks all the boxes from meaningful , feel-god volunteer work with the most amazing kids and families, to being around cute horses, to building relationships with fun, likeminded volunteers. I feel so lucky to be part of Camp Casey and in a position to provide lifelong memories to adorable kiddos and their families.

I have had the priviledge of volunteering with Camp Casey for over 7 years. It is incredible to see how the "magic" of horses brings such joy to the children and families experiencing the effects of cancer and rare blood disorders. This organization has provided me an opportunity to give back to families at a time when they most need love, compassion and a chance to live in the moment! The staff, horse heros and other volunteers I have met are such positive, kind hearted people. This is an incredible non-profit doing great work for the communtiy!
I worked on a Horsey House Call this summer in Detroit and it was an uplifting, positive experience I look forward to repeating next season. The Camp Casey staff was flexible and adapted quickly to challenges with the weather changing (an unexpected pop up rainstorm) and more children at the house call than originally planned. Throughout everything the staff was positive and upbeat and worked together to make sure it was a great experience for the children and the family. The gratitude expressed by the parents and the child we served (all the children there) was so heartwarming. It sent me home with a big smile and ready to do it again! I would highly recommend volunteering for Camp Casey, you will leave with great memories and good feelings that will stay with your for a very long time.

What a privilege to be a volunteer for Camp Casey! I was a volunteer for a horsey house call and it was a wonderful experience. The Camp Casey staff was extremely caring and wonderful working with young children to ensure they were comfortable riding Penny, the volunteer horse! All of the children, parents, grandparents, and friends enjoyed their special day. Crafts galore, the special t-shirts and bandanas, making a special picture frame and best of all, riding the horse. Some children were hesitant to ride at first, but with the positive encouragement of the Staff, everyone enjoyed their horseback ride. I will continue to volunteer for this amazing organization and encourage all to participate in whatever way, you can help make a special day for a child!

I've been involved with Camp Casey for six years now, and have loved every minute of time spent going on our Horsey House Calls. We often see families at a truly terrible point in their lives and it can be almost a magical moment when you see a little bit of the stress lift as they begin to enjoy having all the best parts of the summer camp experience come to their door. I have been involved with Camp Casey as a volunteer for two years now. When we arrive at a visit, the child and parents always look so stressed but by the end of our visit everyone is relaxed and laughing. That happens every time, and I love knowing I was a part of giving the family that respite from their worries.
This is an amazing organization that brings so much joy to children. It’s a fantastic experience to see a child’s face light up with a horse on their doorstep. It’s so unusual to see a horse in a neighborhood. Many of the children served have never seen a horse in their entire lives! Camp Casey brings the healing power of horses to each child they serve!
Camp Casey scrambled at the last minute to bring a horse to my friend while on hospice. She was an avid horse lover. We met at horse camp and shared horses for the winter. This was a big deal for her! We were so fortunate with the timing! Days later we would not have been able to get her into the wheelchair to enjoy the visit. What an amazing day and to share it with such caring, loving and compassionate people like Molly and Vern was a gift!
Camp Casey and Molly was there for my sister when she had cancer and provided her with a visit at our house. The support form camp Casey goes beyond that visit! Highly recommend !

I have nothing but great things to say about the services Camp Casey provides to the community. Within each Horsey House Call, Outlaw Outing or Cowboy Campout, you can see and feel the stress, pain and fear melt off these families and "campers" as they experience a truly unique equine interaction, often in the comfort of their own yard! Equine Therapists and Ranch Hands go through comprehensive training to make sure events run smoothly and safety is maintain at all times. The volunteers are engaged, caring and so much fun! The CC staff have adapted quickly to society's growing needs by offering Lonestar Getaways to take necessary COVID-19 precautions and continue to serve youth with cancer and other rare blood disorders while keeping safety as the number one priority. Yeehaw!!
I’ve been involved as a volunteer and following the activity of Camp Casey since 2004. This is a terrific organization that has grown significantly over the years and has served countless families through their unique programming. They are passionate, creative and inspirational in the work they do.
Top notch. Camp Casey brings a horse to the doorstep of a sick child, and great things happen! Art projects, photos, pizza, and a ride around the neighborhood all add up to a day to remember. When Molly asked me to help her on a Horsey Housecall, I had no idea what to expect. What I witnessed was not only a sick child getting some time off from the daily routine of cancer; I participated with a group of people dedicated to the idea that teaching a child to care for and control a horse allows that child a chance to control a part of his or her life during a time when that life feels very out of control. It is a day away from needles, medications and worry. It allows the child's family a chance to relax with each other. Hoisting the child up onto that horse are volunteers educated about the possible needs of the child as well as maintenance and care of the horses. Camp Casey also provides outings like trips to local baseball or basketball games, and visits to theaters or even beauty pageants. In the summer Camp Casey offers a weekend away at a dude ranch, for an entire family, to provide even more Horsey experience.
I don't know of any other nonprofit that comes close to the love, dedication and heart that those involved in the running of this charity provide. They are a first class operation. Yee haw!

Camp Casey entered my life over ten years ago when they called out for volunteers to help with a fundraiser. After one event I was hooked. You couldn’t ask for a better director/leader than Molly. She makes people feel comfortable, strives to find every grant or fundraiser to fund horsey house calls. The organization has grown over the years but the goal has not changed ~bring smiles to as many kids as possible who need a special day to just be kids! If ever a nonprofit organization deserved recognition and extra funding it is Camp Casey!

My daughter had just finished her battle with stage 4,Wilm’s tumor cancer when we heard about Camp Casey. Our whole family was invited to camp for a weekend in the fall. We all (my 5 year old, included) got to ride horses and enjoy being a family. It was wonderful. Thank you, Camp Casey for all that you do!!!

Camp Casey is one of my favorite nonprofits to volunteer for. It is a down home type of organization that makes everyone feel welcome. The Director, staff, and board take part in all events from fundraising to horsey house calls. Each time I see the video or hear Molly talk to groups about horsey house calls tears flow. Volunteers are treated with respect and kindness. When volunteering for events it's like getting together with friends. I cannot say enough good things about Camp Casey!
I have volunteered for Camp Casey. I help out on the Horsey Calls where we take the horses to the child's house and have a two hour party. I also volunteer when we participate in the Huntington Wood's Parade. I do a lot of volunteer work and Camp Casey is one of my favorite charities.
Polyviou Family Dentistry staff has made the commitment to help our community and this year we have been blessed to work with the staff at Camp Casey. Our Whitening special in the Month of May 2017 allowed us to donate a Horsey House Call to a little one that needs a day of "just" being a kid! We are so proud to be a part of this program!

Many people don't realize that the success of Camp Casey in helping so many children with cancer is the result of the dream, the determination and the hard work of one young woman, Molly Reeser, who started the non-profit while she was still getting her journalism degree at Michigan State University. As someone with ZERO horseback riding experience, I love that I can be involved in the healing power of horses without actually being involved on the horse side! I cannot say enough good things about the horsey house call! I think my favorite moment was the expression of complete joy on my daughter's face when she realized she was going to get to ride a horse---at our house yet!!! She had so much fun---I told someone else that for that afternoon, I honestly think she was able to forget she has cancer, if only for a little while. What an incredible blessing. Without exception, all the volunteers were so kind and friendly. It is clear to see what a labor of love it is for all of them and we were the lucky recipients. What an amazing, amazing experience and gift!
My favorite part of my child's Horsey House call was how excited she was to be able to interact with the horse. Watching her and her friends have such a wonderful time was just what we needed during this trying time in our lives.

I have had the privilege of volunteering with Camp Casey. What a blessing to surprise a child dealing with cancer with such a special visit. To watch their faces when the horse is led up to their door is priceless. It is just a wonderful time for the entire family to enjoy a horse ride, lessons on tacking up the horse and even making a snack to be given to the horse at the end of the visit. It is a time to dwell on smiles, fun and not illness.
This was such a rewarding and humbling experience to be able to bring such joy into these children's lives, even if for a short period of time. I felt so uplifted, knowing that my participation might have helped in bringing smiles to their faces!
Our family was blessed by camp Casey , when our son Shane had kidney cancer. We were invited to events that camp Casey hosted. Horsey rides, picnics , and even tiger. Games. They were wonderful.

I volunteered for a camp back when completing my internship during the final year of a health care doctorate program. I was originally inspired by the ability of an organization to combine two of my passions - horses and health care. My experience with the camp was one of my favorite experiences so far. While I was only able to participate in one of the camps, it gave me the opportunity to take a step back and be reminded that there are so many different types of experiences and therapies that can produce positive outcomes for patients and their families.
In following Camp Casey over the years it continues to amaze me how much they have grown and how many lives they are affecting. Molly and the rest of the leadership and volunteers are truly an amazing group and one I wish that I could actively participate in if I lived closer. I am excited to see what is next!

I volunteered at a fundraising event and had a great time! This group gave my cousin who has leukemia a horsey house call and I will continue to volunteer whenever I can. This is a great nonprofit and they do amazing things!

This group does amazing work. Attending a Camp Casey event early in my daughters treatment really help take her mind off of being sick. We had a great weekend with camp Casey. When our son was injured, and the establishment we were at did not have the appropriate bandages, the volunteers from camp Casey went shopping for us. They certainly exceeded our expectations. It was a fun and personal weekend.

About 6 years ago a friend and I flew in from New York to volunteer not really knowing much about the program and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. Watching those little kids smile and laugh was so awesome and one of these days I would love to come back out now that it's growing and they have so many new and wonderful things they offer the kids!

Such a wonderful charity! I can't imagine being a child and going through the pain of chemo/radiation and the overall hurt of cancer. What better way to forget about all that for a day then to have a horse show up at your door! On top of that, the camp outs allow time for families to be just that, families. No doctors, hospitals or shots. Quality time to be with one another. Camp Casey truly makes a difference in the lives of these families.

My Niece had a horsey house call. It meant so much to her and our family. The smiles is priceless. Cancer and the little time she had left disappeared during that call. What a wonderful thing they do. I joined this year in honor of Ashlee and to bring smiles to other children and their family.

They came to my grandson's house for his 4 year old birthday party.They were all so friendly,safe and made the time with the children a time they will never forget.Loved all their crafts and loved the fact that they explained all about the horse they brought.Also that they allowed the children to brush and feed the horse.They made the day very special and lifted everyone's spirit. I was very impressed with their group and manners and how they treated everyone.
Both my daughters have volunteered for Camp Casey. It is just a wonderful charity. To see the smiles on the sick children is their reward. Horses are such therapeutic animals too. The children just love them.

This nonprofit is a great program for children with cancer. They placed a hoof print on my heart when I first worked with them at one of their summer camp outs at the Double JJ Resort a few years ago and I've enjoyed the chance to work with them and read about all the good they do ever since.
They are nothing short of incredible for what they do for children with cancer AND their families- simply amazing!
I volunteered recently for one of the Trail Ride Cookouts and had a spectacular time. In getting a chance to chat with some of the other volunteers before the families arrived, it put me in such a great mood. Camp Casey does well in terms of vetting the people they allow to volunteer and I think that's important.
Once the kids and their families showed up, it was so great to meet each of them and have some time to interact. Such smiling faces as they got to eat some great food and take a ride on a horse. Heck, I would be happy doing it!
All in all, I can't wait to volunteer again – and plan on it. They really do make a difference in providing an environment where the kids – and their deserving families – can all take a moment away from what's ailing them to laugh, smile, and enjoy the comfort in knowing that there are people who care about them immensely.

I have been a volunteer for Camp Casey for the last 3 years. Camp Casey makes a surprise visit to the home of a child suffering with cancer with a horse. These visits are called Horsey House Calls. The few hours we are there giving horseback rides, making a craft and eating pizza are an attempt to bring some joy and laughter back to the child. The gratitude and happiness Camp Casey and our Horse Hero's provides to these children and their family's is priceless.

We have very fond memories of that weekend. The staff from Camp Casey were very accommodating and they went the extra mile to make sure we were enjoying our visit.
Great charity helping you to forget your troubles for a little bit. We did camp out and Pistons basketball game, things we couldn't afford after all the medical bills.

I spent six months working with Camp Casey as an intern and it was the best six months of my life. I learned more working with Camp Casey than I could in any class room. I will forever cherish the time I spent in and out of the office working with the exceptional women who keep this unique program running. Molly, Katie and Jessica would give anything they could to help a sick child and their family. They have set up a program that will leave a mark on this world and truly change a child's outlook on life when going through such a tough time. I have never met more hard working people in my life. Camp Casey is an amazing grass roots organization. The service provided to local Michigan children with cancer, is absolutely phenomenal. The smiles our "Hero Herd" is able to provide to these kids and their families makes me feel better about the world we live in. Camp Casey is a wonderful nonprofit organization that helps kids with cancer escape for a day. They have fun by riding and grooming horses, doing arts and crafts and enjoying a day with family and friends. It has been such an amazing experience to be a volunteer for this organization. I have been able to see the surprised look on kids' faces as they open their doors to find a giant horse greeting them. I have also been able to talk to parents of these kids who are so excited to hear the laughter and see the smiles coming from their children. These kids have no fear; they jump right on the horse and can't wait to learn to ride!

Camp Casey is awesome. They gave my daughter an experience that she wouldn't have gotten otherwise. My daughter Ashlee had cancer and the first time we went out to a ranch to camp casey and she got to meet Moe and brush and ride him. We were invited back a few more time and Ashlee loved riding Moe. Ashlee was then told the cancer was gone, but it came back. During the 2nd round of cancer Moe and Camp Casey came out to our house and Ashlee was so surprised and loved the visit so much. We lost Ashlee on 11/15/09 but Camp Casey gave her something that we couldn't and we love them. Great job Camp Casey!!
Great people doing amazing work!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about Camp Casey. It's been impressive watching this organization develop over the years. They have done a terrific job of growing their program to touch more and more people each year.
Camp Casey is the coolest charity in town!! The staff & board are so great to work with, and they really have quality volunteers at every event!! The work they do with those adorable kids and their families is just amazing!! I love volunteering for the organization and feel like I really do make a difference in the lives of others.
