Mission: Calyx exists to nurture women's creativity by publishing fine literature and art by women. Calyx is committed to: - introducing a wide audience to high quality literature and art by women - providing a forum for diversity and underrepresented writers and viewpoints - discovering and publishing emerging and developing writers - preserving publications for future audiences
Programs: The primary program of calyx, inc. Is the production of calyx journal, a journal dedicated to publishing the finest art and literature by women and the maintenance of calyx books, a publishing imprint with the same mission. Calyx journal receives submissions from approximately 700 individuals, has 752 subscribers, and is distributed to bookstores nationwide. Calyx books maintains a backlist of 50 books. In addition to normal operations, calyx is currently working on a multi year assessment of program activities and efficiency options. Calyx is working to reinvigorate our brand and organization to better adapt to a rapidly changing publishing world.
