Mission: Ciea's mission is to protect and restore california indian peoples' cultural traditions, ancestral territories, means of subsistence and environmental health.
Programs: Ciea provided eating fish safely education in northern california at five community events and at five women, infant and children (wic) centers. We provided trainings for staff of four wic clinics in the bay area, one wic clinic in humboldt county and for two tribes. This information assists tribal and wic staff in providing safer fish consumption advice to their members or clients. At each of our trainings we distributed mercury tribal health toolkits, eating fish safely brochures and sets of local fish consumption advisories. We coordinated ca tribal engagement for two integrated regional water management (irwm) groups including the north coast and the upper feather river to increase tribal participation in these multi-stakeholder collaborations.
