Mission: The council provides support services to persons age 60 and over which help maintain their independence and quality of life in a home environment and to serve as a focal point on issues affecting the health and welfare of the aging population.
Programs: Title iii c-2 home delivered meal program provides five nutritional meals per week to homebound seniors in caddo parish. The louisiana governors' office of elderly affairs establishes the eligibility criteria and guidelines for this service. 293,113 meals were served in fy-2017.
the foster grandparents fund (fgp) accounts for the administration of grants to a) provide part-time volunteer service opportunities for low-income people age 60 and over and, b) give supportive person-to-person service in health, education, welfare and related settings to helpalleviate the physical, mental and emotional problems of infants, children or youth having special or exceptional needs.
veterans home and community base services provide veterans the opportunity to hire their own personal care aides to assist them with daily living activities. Veterans received 51,304 hours of service in fye-2017
