Mission: The Butte Jazz Society was formed in response to the elimination of instrumental music education programs in the public schools curriculum in South Central Montana. With the elimination of public education programs, children from low-income families and under-served areas are denied opportunities for essential cultural education. Any reduction in the public school curriculum limits higher education and professional development opportunities for students who will not have the same options for scholarships and job training as their more educated peers. The Society partners with community and social service organizations throughout the Northwest and the Northern Rockies to recruit students from underserved areas and to develop a Community Consensus of Importance for Arts Education for individual growth and community quality of life.
