Mission: Founded in 1954, the Council for International Visitors (CIV) has connected over 30,000 international leaders to the WNY community. CIV is the only organization in WNY whose mission is dedicated to bringing foreign leaders to the community as part of its mission. Through CIV's Hands Across The Sea global education program, students in inner-city neighborhoods have the opportunity to meet with international visitors to learn more about their countries, customs, and culture. With 150 members, and an expansive network of CIV Citizen Diplomats and volunteers, CIV helps enhance the quality of life in WNY by providing a critical link for residents to new and emerging leaders from around the globe.
