I witnessed the Rev Robert Jackson giving out toys to kids with parents in the food line. The kids were delighted and surprised.

A homebound senior says thank you for helping her to defeat hunger.
Edna is eighty-seven years old who lives alone and who has been homebound since the pandemic. Edna has a fear of going outside and will only travel when escorted by a trusted family member. Before Thanksgiving, Edna was thrilled to get a holiday delivery basket from the Brooklyn Rescue Mission Community Food Center pantry.
As a retiree living on a fixed income, Edna still enjoys making her favorite meals, and her home-delivered food pantry baskets have become a lifeline. The food basket quality is always fresh and includes produce sourced from local farms, meat, dairy, and groceries selected to support a healthy and balanced diet.
Edna says her drop-off driver is always on-time, polite, and friendly and adds to her human contact. Every week in 2020 and 2021, Seniors receive a grocery basket filled with healthy foods. Brooklyn Rescue Mission Community Food Center saw a 20 percent increase of clients requesting food. The COVID-19 pandemic and resultant economic crisis have made New York City’s hunger crisis worse.
