Mission: To clear the path for 100% clean energy by shaping new policy at the state capitol and before administrative agencies, educating broadly about hawaii's energy challenge, and providing effective tools for residents statewide to implement smart energy solutions.
Programs: Policy advocacy: blue planet foundation participated in shaping policy through intervening in clean energy-related dockets before the hawaii public utilities commission and at the hawaii legislature. These dockets included distributed energy resources, utility decoupling review, power supply improvement planning, utility acquisition proceeding, and others. Blue planet foundation retained two (2) expert utility consultants to help with the interventions. Other advocacy efforts included an outreach campaign to inspire other pacific islands to adopt 100% clean energy targets.
action demand response: blue planet foundation partnered with local energy experts to install home energy monitoring kits in more than 750 homes on oahu. The program empowered those participating in the exclusive pilot to see how much energy their homes use and how to save money on their electricity bills through personalized tips and recommendations.
