Mission: The specific purposes and objectives of the corporation shall include but not be limited to restoring and maintaining the resilience, ecological health of the big thompson watershed for the benefit of economic, agricultural, private lands, recreational interests and water resources. The corporation will develop and maintain a master plan (final, may 2015) and its amendments and addendums for the watershed for the development and conservation of the big thompson watershed and its watershed and ecosystems, including the river, forests, lands, plants and wildlife, for the benefit of the entire watershed community.
Programs: Planning projects--mapping, planning and design of restoration and mitigation work to be done in two areas within the big thompson river watershed; up to 30% design for west loveland area and up to 80% design for the cedar cove/jasper lake (lower canyon) area.
implementation projects--completion of pilot implementation project over a two-mile reach of the big thompson river from the handy ditch dam to the us highway 34 bridge below the loveland water treatment plant and completion of upper and lower jasper lake projects. Oversight of cedar cove project and commencement of work on mountain shadow and waltonia projects. All of these projects have the goals of improving aquative habitat, implementing riparian habitat, reducing geomorphic risk and reducing future flood risks by increasing floodway capacity and overflow channel conveyance.
community outreach--public outreach and education regarding the planning and implementation of flood restoration and mitigation projects under hud disaster recovery grants
