Causes: Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Children & Youth
Mission: To provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Programs: Big brothers big sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the united states. We have been the leader in one-to-one youth service in tallahassee for over 45 years, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Big brothers big sisters of the big bend serves children, ages 6 through 18, in eight counties: leon, wakulla, gadsden, franklin, madison, taylor, jefferson and liberty. In the 2016-2017 year, big brothers big sisters served 450 youth with 1-to-1 adult mentors through community-based, enhanced school-based, and children of prisoners mentoring programs. Through generous donations from individuals, foundations, the state of florida, the united way and local businesses, big brothers big sisters continues its sustainability serving the most vulnerable children in our communities.
