Programs: Bccrs responded to approximately 8,824 calls for help in fy17. The bethesda-chevy chase rescue squad is an all-hazard fire and rescue organization responding to structural fire, vehicle crash, technical rescue and emergency medical incidents across southern montgomery county, maryland. In addition, we provide emergency medical response to northwest portions of the district of columbia. One of two volunteer fire companies in montgomery county dedicated to operating heavy rescue squad and emergency medical service units, the bccrs operates as an integral component of montgomery county fire and rescue services. The bethesda-chevy chase rescue squad has over 175 professionally trained volunteers respond to incidents during regularly (continued on schedule o) scheduled evening, night, and weekend duty shifts. On weekdays, units are staffed with bccrs employees, volunteers, one montgomery county fire rescue paramedic and one montgomery county fire rescue emt. This staffing strategy ensures that personnel are ready to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our fleet includes 7 ambulances, 2 heavy rescue squads, and various command and utility vehicles.
