Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Employment Preparation & Procurement, Job Training

Mission: Mission Statement: To serve as a catalyst for under-mentored adults, helping them realize their full potential by equipping them with the tools they need to build a future filled with purpose and fulfillment. Our Mission in Action: Our program serves the men and women who have fallen through the cracks. Our program works to connect a successfully functioning adult, the mentor, with a struggling adult, the mentee. We provide ongoing training, education and support to our mentors as they walk along side the mentee. Every one of the mentees we serve is starting at rock bottom. They have no job, no home of their own, usually no form of transportation and are either newly released from jail or have been recently homeless. The mentor program is a vital part in keeping these men and women on the path to success. For many of our mentees, the mentor is the first healthy relationship the mentee has experienced. We believe that by working to heal the broken adults that we are, in turn, helping their children. We want to break the cycles of dysfunction in our community by transforming struggling adults into strong parents, contributing citizens and community leaders. You may be asking…can I do this? The truth is that there is no perfect mold to make a mentor. Our mentors come from all different backgrounds and walks of life ranging from retired nurse to former drug dealer. More than anything, a good mentor candidate is someone who can lend an ear to listen free of judgment. If you can spare an hour a week, you have time to be a mentor. This is one of the few times in life where you can make a huge impact and all you have to do is show up.
