Mission: The mission of behind the badge foundation is to honor the sacrifices of officers who have suffered a line of duty death or catastrophic injury by: 1) serving as the trusted resource to families and surviving officers; 2) providing immediate and ongoing support and 3) maintaining the law enforcement memorial as eternal recognition and remembrance for fallen washington officers.
Programs: Behind the badge foundation helps families and agencies cope with trauma, grief and loss after a line of duty death or serious injury by connecting families with experts in their field. Resource experts have an understanding of the law enforcement culture, recognizing the unique dynamics experienced by law enforcement families. Behind the badge foundation's line of duty death response team (loddrt) is sanctioned by the washington association of sheriffs and police chiefs (waspc). The loddrt is a support to affected law enforcement agencies upon the death of one of their own. The loddrt members are experts in their field. All team members are certified under the incident command system (ics). Memorial expenses for officers killed in the line of duty. The foundation donates to each line of duty death memorial - offsetting the costs of the memorial.
2017 law enforcement family network (lefn) conference attended by over 125 family members and law enforcement officers. The goal of this program is to be the umbrella or facilitator for law enforcement family support groups around the state; providing training to strengthen the family, communication within the family and to encourage outreach to other agencies in both good and difficult times. The annual conference provides training that is unique to the dynamics of the law enforcement family.
