We have been supporting Be Humanitarian for a few years, but recently were able to join Tobie on a humanitarian trip down to Guatemala. It was amazing! We brought our 3 teenage boys with us, not knowing if they would “appreciate” this family vacation. They all had an awesome and life-altering experience!!! The time and effort that Tobie and her leaders have put in, in order to maximize the impact of each dollar donated is very evident. You can instantly tell that Tobie and her organization is dedicated to the people in Guatemala. Any thing we did, anywhere we ate, anyone we helped — they were all in need and truly appreciated our time and our visit. It was heart-warming to see the light in the eyes of the children as they played with us “gringos”.
We are so pleased with how our donated dollars were spent and the large number of lives that get and will continue feel its impact for years to come. Tobie has been very thoughtful and deliberate in her approach on how to create a lasting impact in the lives of theses people - teaching them life skills, enhancing their way of life for their children, and helping them to LEARN from each other as they become self-reliant.
In a world where many people are all about themselves . . . Tobie and Be Humanitarian are all about lifting those that need it. We appreciate their example and how it has impacted us as well.
If you are considering a place to donate money or your time - please consider Be Humanitarian . . . you will not regret it.
Before reading LinkedIn posts and furtherung exploring BeHumanitarian.org led by Tobie Spears in USA the depth of opportunity open for travel, volunteering and sensing that there is a profound difference being made in the world with such an initiative. Seeing the intergenerational model of service and glób friendship is awesome. All the way from Ireland a big thanks Tobie, Justice and Be Humanitarian. Even the name urges one to action in their own corner of the Globe.
I’ve been working with Be Humanitarian for years now and can vouch that it’s an organization that puts service and the mission for the Guatemalan kids first. They have helped many kids achieve the reality of being able to attend school and supply meals through direct nutrition assistance or family’s utilizing their garden towers to meet their goals. Everyone working in the program are volunteers and are passionate about helping kids be their best. The service trips are awesome and a great experience for any age to go on.
I absolutely love working with Tobie! Working for a nonprofit is a game-changer since I know what we do contributes to social impact. What motivates me every day is knowing that we are helping change lives in Guatemala!
I have been working with Be Humanitarian for 5 years, and I cannot say enough great things about this organization. They are doing truly good work in the world. If you want to put your money or volunteerism to good use, it's time to give Be Huamitarian a look.
I have been volunteering with Be Humanitarian for a few years now. I have loved my experience! I truly believe we are making a difference in the lives of the families we serve in Guatemala. I also believe we are changing the lives of those who go on our volunteer trips. I know my gratitude and love for life expands exponentially whenever I go on a volunteer trip and serve others less fortunate than I am. Tobie is amazing and has the biggest heart. I'm very grateful for the opportunity I have to serve in this wonderful organization!
Amazing experience. We connected with the families on a personal level which provided an insight on how they live their daily lives. Tobie made the trip very easy and her deep love for the people was evident. I am so glad I chose to join this trip!
This non profit is amazing! Tobie organized the perfect balance between service and vacation. We were able to help two communities. We went to the beach near Monterrico and delivered school supplies, clothing and most importantly water filters and water bottles for the children at school. Now they can drink clean water.
We next went to a mountain village called San Andreas. There are 31 children in this community are sponsored for food and school. Tobie has hired the mothers of these children to help the nonprofit by shopping for the foods that are delivered, sewing the tower gardens and installing the tower gardens. It’s such a wi ferrule way to lift so many. The children now are properly nourished, mothers are woki g at something that helps lift their neighbors and provides food that is nourishing for their families. She has created this big circle of service and community as they all work together. I was impressed! They are able to install many more garden towers when they have volunteers go on these service vacations. Many hands makes light work. Tobie makes sure you see the sites and also enjoy the people and the culture. It’s an amazing trip! If you e ever thought of doing some kind of service vacation this one might be the one for you!
The trip I took to Guatemala was amazing, fascinating, eye opening, etc. I would recommend it for anyone looking to expand their role in our global community. Tobie was a fantastic tour guide as an added bonus. The local food was delicious. The people so kind and pure. Helping support the children there is desperately needed. I am proud to be able to support one of them. Even helping one will change the world.

Be Humanitarian is making real and long lasting differences in the lives of Guatemalan mothers and children ~ in a way that will positively change the trajectory of future generations. I traveled with Tobie and 13 other amazing humanitarians to Guatemala as the founder/director of the Institute for the Study of Birth, Breath, and Death in the summer of 2022. We learned, served, explored, and grew so much from our adventure together.
I very highly recommend Be Humanitarian!

Dear Kyla, It was a blast having you join. I loved getting to know you and volunteer alongside you and your awesome dad. You are off to great places kid.
My family and I sponsor a little girl through this organization. It is so nice to be able to contribute every month to an organization that is truthful and honest. 100% of the proceeds go to the children. Our small contribution, combined with many others, adds so much to this community. We are grateful for this opportunity.
I have the great privilege of knowing Toby Spears. I am so amazed at her talents and abilities to help mothers and children in Guatemala. I was able to help gather quilts for them. It was such a privilege to help with their projects. They are touching so many lives
Be Humanitarian is such a great organization! It’s run by an awesome bunch of people that are trustworthy and truly care about the people they are helping in Guatemala. I love sponsoring Alonso! I know that all of my money goes to help him get the food and schooling he needs. It’s the best $40 I spend every month because I know that $40 is truly making a difference in a little boy’s life!

Thank you for supporting us through the years Linda. We are eternally grateful to amazing sponsors like you. Thank you, Tobie Spears
I have had the opportunity to assist Guatemalan Humanitarian Tours a couple times and I have learned so much from its founder, Tobie Spears. Her willingness to help and to change the lives of those in Guatemala and those who visit this country is remarkable. This nonprofit understands that love and hope will change the lives of those that come across this organization.
Servicing in Guatemala was an experience I'll never forget. It was so fun to see Guatemala because it's so different from where were from. It made me come back more grateful for how I live! Also, our leaders Tobi and Darrin were great, and would do another service trip with them.
Was an amazing experience that taught me so much. I learned about the culture and lifestyle of those living in Guatemala. I would recommend to anyone who wants to go and help outreach communities.
Excellent leadership from all adults involved, always felt safe while exploring Guatemala and all its wonders!
My time in Guatemala changed my outlook on life because it made me realize how much materialistic items really aren't what make you happy. Instead, it's the people you meet and the relationships you build that will fulfill your life with the feeling of true and genuine happiness.
After this experience, I felt a lot different because before this trip, I had never gone to a developing country, and so seeing how different the people live there compared to how I live, it was such an eye opening experience. It made me realize actually how grateful I am for everything and how it made me want to build relationships with complete strangers, even if we don't speak the same language, we can still become friends.
I also noticed how my attitude also changed. I was a lot happier because the people in Guatemala are so nice. You'll be walking down the street and see a person you don't even know and they'll say "Buenas!" and smile at you, and you don't realize how a simple Hello and Smile can change someone's day. Looking back on it, I miss how happy the people there were and I wish that was how our society in the United States was today.
