Mission: Part iii lines 1 and 3 bay area seafarers services was incorporated in 1964 in california, to establish and promote a center or centers in the san francisco bay area for the promotion of the welfare and moral improvement of active merchant seamen through religious, educational, recreational, and social services. The executive committee of the seamen's church institute of ny and nj (the "institute"), served as the board of trustees of bass. A merger was approved and finalized between the institute and bass, and bass was dissolved by new york state and california effective august 10, 2011. Bass became a program of the institute.
Programs: To provide religious services to seafarers, both at the center and aboard ship and to provide support services such as recreation, communications, transportation, counselling and advocacy, meals and refreshments to all maritime workers regardless of religion, race or nationality.
