Mission: Brothers and sisters in christ serving (basics) works to engage suburban and urban resources, build relationships between churches and ministries, develop community leaders, and transform communities of need.
Programs: Basics helped recruit, train and match mentors with mentees. We were able to "pilot test" the "bridge program" which helped men and women in job readiness. In addition, basics helped with job placement for men and women, and also assisted with food, clothing, shelter, life skills training, etc. In addition, our prison ministry team visited over 1,000 inmates and interacted with several thousand individuals.
basics sponsored 15 community outreaches that reached out to over 5,000 people. These outreaches included giving away free food, clothing, haircuts, back to school supplies, sporting event tickets, blankets, bibles, and personal hygiene items. In addition, basics hosted a "state of milwaukee symposium" that had over 300 community leaders learn the good things that were happening in milwaukee. Basics hosted a "pastors and ministry leaders appreciation breakfast" for over 200 pastors and ministry leaders from throughout the greater milwaukee area.
basics provided management support, financial and administrative assistance, as well as counseling and comforting to over 200 pastors, ministry leaders, and community leaders through our extensive network. In addition, basics would often provide spiritual insights, prayer support, strategic planning and encouragement to god's church in the greater milwaukee area.
basics worked with over 700 junior high, high school and college age students on construction and community outreach programs. Each week, basics held weekly bible studies for over 100 urban junior high and high school boys and girls. We were able to take over 300 youth to professional baseball and basketball games and provide transportation, and snacks. In addition, basics has a team of over 200 that pray on a weekly basis for all of the milwaukee public schools and their families.
