Programs: The learning centers network provides preschool, homework help, hot meals, and school books and material to 450-500 marginalized roma children every day. With 25 staff and 50 high school age tutors from same communities, leadership development and community stabilization are added results.
never back home is a 56-minute documentary about the people of the plemetina (kosovo) internally displaced persons camp and their ten years of life after leaving their homes as a result of the kosovo war in 1999. The project also included a youth video workshop with camp young people, and showing the film in venues around kosovo to sensitize to human rights and discrimination and advocate for the people of the plemetina camp.
learning centers network supplementary programs included women's literacy activities in two of our centers. More than 40 women were involved and improved their literacy and numeracy skills. Youth training programs in the centers were intended to develop leadership skills not only for the centers tutoring activities, but so that young people have more confidence as leaders and learners in their communities.
general activities support enabled overall activities of balkan sunflowers' kosovo network: balkan sunflowers kosova. Local and international volunteers were supported, a school mediation project between schools and marginalized minority families helped improve relations and keep children in school in 10 communities.
