Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Arts & Culture, Cultural & Ethnic Awareness
Mission: To preserve native east european,balkan and other folk arts in the us and the countries of the balkans. Also, to conduct research primarily in balkan ethnic communities filming and photographing folk art and to present concerts and public programs of ethnic music and dance. In addition, balkan echoes offers classes to the public to encourage the preservation of these music, song and dance forms.
Programs: Travel in us, canada, ukraine, poland, germany, macedonia, greece and bulgaria to continue documentation of balkan echoes projects and to share the "voices and images from bulgaria"
exhibited photographs and music in various world galleries sponsored and participated in balkan dance classes. Served as guides for visiting bulgarian tv crew.
continued to promote and distribute books and cd's of traditional bulgarian music and also designed and produced programs for students by bringing ethnic musicians into vashon high school.
