Causes: Automotive Safety, Disaster Aid
Mission: To research, educate, and promote highway safety.
Programs: Alcohol detection: in 2008 and continuing in 2013, the coalition entered into two consecutive 5-year cooperative research agreements with the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) within the us department of transportation. Under this agreement, the coalition is working cooperatively with nhtsa to explore the feasibility, the potential benefits of, and ubiquitous use of a range of technologies to prevent drunk driving. This research will determine what is likely to be needed to ensure the successful development and deployment of advanced technology alcohol detection devices. - see schedule o for continuation
