It has been an absolute joy to work with one of the students from the Atlanta Drum Academy. He is one of the most polite and considerate children I have ever had the pleasure of teaching chess to. I have noticed that the ADA is more than just about playing music- it builds a strong character, such as social and problem solving skills. The joy I receive from watching these wonderful young people play is indescribable. They are beyond talented and you can tell immediately that they really care about their craft. Mission: The Atlanta Drum Academy’s mission is to empower underserved communities with innovative percussion and music skills. Our learning environment elevates emotional intelligence, challenges students’ capabilities, and builds career pathways. Our guiding principle is "pray and play" while building wholeness in every child, one beat at a time.
Results: Our impact was recognized in Mayor Andre Dickens’ 2023 State of the City Address, the Black Audacity Magazine, an honorable Proclamation from Clayton County’s Board of Commissioners, and the Georgia Music Educators’ Association for community service. Other impactful results include a 90% retention rate, 95% increased social-emotional wellness, and increased academic achievements.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 125 Atlanta Drum Academy children brought joy to the community with many performances.
Geographic areas served: The Atlanta Drum Academy serves children locally, statewide, and internationally.
