Mission: Athletes Without Limits is the USA Federation for Elite Athletes with Intellectual Disability and the US member of INAS-FID. Our mission is to identify, develop and support athletes with intellectual disability and athletic dreams of participating in high-level competition—including the Paralympics and non-disabled mainstream sporting events—in the US and abroad.
Geographic areas served: US athletes with intellectual disability
Programs: Develop and manage us teams of high-performance athletes with intellectual impairment traveling to inas and other high-level international competitions and paralympic qualifying events including: cycling, rowing, swimming, tennis, table tennis, skiing, track and field and other sports. Since 2009 we've grown from 1 to over 200 elite athletes competing in the us and internationally.
provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual impairment to train and compete on high level local and regional us teams including a rowing program in washington dc, a swimming program in georgia, a virginia-based us tennis team; and texas-based us men's and women's basketball teams. In addition our integrated rowing program also includes athletes with physical disabilities, visual impairment, disabled veterans and non-disabled high school, collegiate and masters rowers.
manage us athlete eligibility applications to compete in high-level inas and paralympic competitions. Includes review of athletes' s evidence of disability (psychological assessments) by volunteer psychologist and or helping athletes obtain the necessary psychological assessments. Athletes without limits has helped over 150 athletes through this eligibility process, which can take several months to complete.
athletes without limits advocates for us athletes rights to compete at the highest levels of mainstream and paralympic sport. We travel to inas and other high-level events, which are qualifiers toward selection by the u. S. Paralympic team.
