Causes: Arts & Culture, Cultural & Ethnic Awareness
Mission: Association of eritrean jeberti in north america inc. (aejna) is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and/or scientific purposes as specified in section 501[c] [3] of the internal revenue code. Our organization's principal purpose is to educate eritrean-american jeberti community in the united states in eritrean languages, eritrean jeberti identity and history as well as to preserve and promote cultural awareness among the members of eritrean-american jeberti community as they actively integrate with and contribute to the american society.
Programs: After successful completion of summer education program from 2009 - 2015 for children 5 - 15 years old, aejna broaden its summer program to make it all year in 2016 and changed it name to family which included the following. 1) education: education program for children ages 5-15 years. Kids learning tigrinya language, arabic language, and basketball while having fan and building ever lasting friendships. 2) pre-school (pre-k): first year of fun activities for children ages 2-4 years. Activities include writing, coloring and playing games in a fun filled atmosphere. 3) youth program: building a foundation of future aejna and community leaders while engaging in workshops on variety of topics, activities and projects initiated by aejna youth group (ages 15 years and above) for benefit of youth and charity 4) parents program: aejna will conduct a well organized and structured exciting lectures every week to benefit all parents and families. Lectures will cover range of topics to include islamic lectures in tigrinya language, health related topics, aejna related topics, and other special presentation. During the month of december, as part of the end of the family program, aejna youth and kids held cultural show which includes educational projects, such as eritrean different languages, foods, dress, and posters and dance with the whole community participating and it was very successfully event.
