Mission: The association of administrators of the interstate compact on adoption and medical assistance is a nonprofit corporation comprised of member states. The association provides a framework for interstate coordination to remove barriers to the interstate adoption of children with special needs and facilitates the transfer of adoptive, educational, medical, and post adoptive services when an adopted child is placed in or moves to a new state.
Programs: Technical assistance and training on the aaicama 700 form worksite/database: the association's staff provide regular training on use of the aaicama database. Staff also continue to provide support and technical assistance to state icama staff in the expanded use of the database and the analytics available to them through the database. Staff also continue to customize the use of the aaicama database to meet evolving state needs. Aaicama responded to approximately 350 requests for training and technical assistance this year.
state staff training and development: aaicama staff/consultants develop and provide regular training to state icama staff to increase their knowledge and effectiveness in interstate practice; and enhance administrators' understanding and application of adoption and medicaid law in interstate cases. In addition, aaicama staff conducts on-site training for icama professionals at its annual conferences.
technical assistance for state and local interstate staff: aaicama staff provides guidance on a broad range of adoption and medicaid-related issues to public agency staff, adoptive parents, guardians, and adoption organizations. Specifically, staff/consultants offer expertise and information on compact administration, title iv-e and state funded adoption assistance programs, the interstate transfer of adoption and medical assistance, and post-adoption services. Aaicama responded to approximately 75 requests for technical assistance this year.
