There were 2,918 total students contacts made. Friendship luncheon served 564 local seniors at 6 annual luncheons with food, entertainment, and thrift shop shopping excursions. The little cottage provided supplies for the maintenance of 6 cottages that provide affordable accomodations in a pleasant setting for families of loved ones in critical care at cottage hospital. 5,235 individuals/families were housed. Operation prom dress' collection of 400 gowns were loaned to 100 students from the prom boutique to attend their high school proms in style. Kids on the block provided puppeteer performances in elementary schools to promote discussions on social issues. Nearly 1,800 students were entertained including 675 at 11 performances for safety town during the summer. Operation book shelf provided books, audiotapes, cds, and dvds via delivery visits to 14 homebound patrons, and $5,000 to goleta library to purchase large print books, books on tape, dvds, etc. Very improved performers provided quarterly luncheons and awards honoring 157 nominated middle school students with 270 guests for improvement in academics, attendance, attitude, citizenship, homework, and behavior. 4 $2,000 scholarships were awarded to seniors representing carpinteria, dos pueblos, san marcos, and santa barbara high schools using alsb's criterion of outstanding community service to select recipients. Tender touch provided 9 memorial layette boxes to grieving parents who lost a child at birth at cottage hospital birth center.
