Causes: Autism, Disabilities, Health
Mission: Our mission is to increase awareness of the many and varied difficulties individuals with Autism Spectrum diagnoses face as children and adults. We have devoted our energies to educating staff and supporting families and school districts in their expansion of services for children. Our newer focus has been for the adult population where there has been little or no support.
Programs: AHA Association programs includes over 10 monthly support groups across from Montauk to Manhattan (for parents of school-age children, parents of older teens and adults, a grandparent group, and a group for teens and another for adults on the spectrum), a hotline which answers calls from all over the country, an outstanding newsletter, On The Spectrum, mailed to members, a lending library, an award winning website with information and links to medical and general support on the internet, a mass email list for more timely information,and two yearly conferences.
